The CineParts Mission

We thought it would be nice to explain a bit more what CineParts is, why it was started and why we believe it will make an impact on the way AC's work. Have a read, we'd love to hear your feedback! ❤️

CineParts is run in Scotland by Sil Derkx and Michael Neal, and was started in May 2020.

Michael is a Focus Puller, Sil is a 2nd AC/Cam Op. We have worked together closely for over 2,5 years, mostly on commercial sets. Michael joined in February to tackle more of the product-development behind the scenes, where as Sil tackles orders, customer service and general oversight.

It took us about 4 months before we were happy with the quality, supplier and finish, and we try to ensure a continuous variety of clever tools which help industry professionals on a day-to-day basis!

CineParts is a place where we make these accessories available to the general AC who does not have a printer (or does not want to tinker, tune and experiment with it), and just wants to bill a production like they would do with other consumables. Although PLA is not 100% recyclable, it is a more sustainable and long-term solution for us Industry Professionals.

Eco-Pledge ♻️

Unfortunately we see a lot of waste on a day-to-day basis, and our clips, clamps and adapters can be a way to move from single-use plastics to a long-term, more heavy-duty solution. E.g. Instead of a quick fix with a single-use zip-tie, make sure your equipment and cables are securely fastened in the first place. Using Dual Lock to secure a D-Tap holder? Why not save all that Dual Lock and use a bracket that will last you 6+ months!

Every product counts, and with every product we produce we create waste. We are very aware of this, and this very environmental reason was the reason why we started CineParts. That is why all of our products are printed with recycled PLA material. Depending on the colour and type, this can be between 70 and 98%.

Manufacturing & Development 🛠

We fell in love with 3D printing at the start of 2020. We used it to make our first prototypes, and still use it to manufacture all of our products to this day. The customisability, the freedom, the community and the (generally) accessibility of 3D printing is what we fell in love with. We'll always find the right material, right fit and prototype until it is right for the part.

We have always welcomed, and will welcome any self-designed iterations of our clips, the D-Tap Holder or any other products as that is the nature about 3D printing. We are always open to new ideas, and will happily talk to you about co-designing or even licensing products, as long as the dialogue is open and honest.

At the moment, all of our products are manufactured in-house in our small '3D Printer Farm'. This way of manufacturing allows us to be very flexible and really quick in making changes, thus beating traditional manufacturing methods.

Developing store-bought products takes us weeks, sometimes even months as we extensively test them on set while working, send them out to friends and colleagues and tweak as we go along. Most of our products have 10+ iterations, and we can't wait to show you all what we have got in store!

We want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us the past year, it has been a wild ride. We are excited for the future and can't wait to show you what is in store! ❤️
